Sonni

Sonni was created to redefine sun care as an everyday ritual, not just a beach-day accessory. As the first premium, all-natural SPF-first brand, Sonni offers nourishing, 100% clean products for every skin tone and every day of the year.

I assisted on the visual execution of the brand from ideation through brand guidelines. My contribution included light upfront category research, concept development, packaging exploration, and design execution.

Creative Territories

Beginning the process with creative territories, we developed a series of moodboards that captured the essence of the brand: a partnership of nature and science that inspires confidence everyday.

The client gravitated towards the “Out of the Shadows” territory as it established an illuminated, luxurious feel to the brand that was differentiated from the category and remained gender neutral.

Visual Identity

During the visual identity phase, we explored logo directions, typography treatments, and graphic elements that would make the brand feel distinct and fresh. The visual language we built balances premium minimalism and approachable warmth. It brings together the credibility of a science-backed skincare brand with the lifestyle appeal of an everyday essential, positioning Sonni as the modern benchmark for daily SPF.

The brand’s look and feel centers on the idea of stepping out of the shadows. A rich deep-blue palette is paired with cyanotype botanical illustrations, capturing both the purity of natural ingredients and a sense of crafted elegance. Scientific credibility comes through in the use of dot and line motifs, along with macro texture photography that hints at precision and formulation.

The Results

Having established a strong brand foundation, Sonni’s visual expression was expanded to beautifully crafted packaging that paid off the elegant, everyday nature of the brand. The full brand launch is planned for September 2025.
